Combat Pest Infestations Effectively
When unwelcome guests invade your garden, the first step is to observe and identify them. Examine the level of the pest infestation carefully. Are you spotting a few ants marching towards your garden flowers aiding in pollinations, or are you noticing multiple red ant hills? Recognizing the pest and the severity of the situation is key to formulating an effective battle plan so you can combat pest infestations effectively.

Dear Arti:
Question: I would like to know how to plan for a fall garden as well to extend the season. – Jeanette
Answer: Hi Jeanette,
That’s a very extensive question. Answering that would entail understanding your climate. The key though, is to look at your average high and low temperatures for each month and grow crops that prefer those ranges. For further learning, you can take the Beginning Crop Planning Micro Course.
For season extension, you have many options. Cold frames are a good choice if it’s your first time using season extension. Plus, you can build a few on a smaller scale to test with so it’s also a bit lighter on the budget while you’re still in the learning process.
Oh, and one tip for directly sowing your fall crops if the temperature is still super warm, is to double up on the planting depth recommended on the seed packet. This can help keep them a bit cooler and give you a little more flexibility for watering to keep those seedlings moist.
I hope that helps, Jeanette!
