Weekly Garden Tip
If you want a decent-sized okra crop, you’ll ideally want to plant 15 plants. Harvest every other day. That will give you about 15 okra every other day.
Pick them when they’re small. When they get too big, they’re very fibrous and leaving fruit on the plant will delay further production of new, juicy okra. Only let the okra get large at the end of the season for seed saving.

Dear Arti:
Question:Ā How do you best keep micro greens fresh? – Melvin, Grew up on a farm.
Answer:Ā Hi Melvin,
To keep microgreens fresh, harvest them only when you’re ready to wash and eat! When microgreens are ready to harvest, it doesn’t mean you have to harvest them right away. Even fast-growing varieties like radish can hold for 3-5 days depending on the temperatures. So, harvesting fresh is always the best way.
Now, if you need to harvest them, I would harvest at peak water intake; this is usually the day after watering, when you want to cut, but DO NOT WASH until ready to eat, then store in a plastic container with a deli pad (the kinds that have a waterproof barrier on top and a moisture pad on the bottom). Spray the moisture pad with water and put the watered side down, then keep in the fridge away from the coldest spot where the air comes out.
Enjoy! š
As many plants are starting to come to the end of their growth cycles, itās a great time to harvest seeds for the next growing season.
Shown here are some seeds from GYOVĀ CEO and Lifestyle Gardener Denise Beinsā Himalaya marigold plant. Seeds are fascinating!
Just this small handful of seeds is more than enough to plant throughout the garden next season.
