Learn to Ferment

🫙Have a pile of veggies that are ready to become something magical? 🥒

Discover the art of fermentation in this week’s “Learn to Ferment” blog. Turn your harvest into tangy, gut‑friendly delights. From sauerkraut to pickles, your fridge will never be boring again!

Garden Tip

Measure your microgreen seed by weight, not volume. When you measure by volume, there is a wider fluctuation of seed amount than if you weigh your microgreen seed. Choosing a gram / ounce scale is best.

Guide to 6 Easy to Grow Microgeens

Dear Arti

Question:
I do worm composting. Can I ever use some of this compost in my microgreen growing? – Robin S., Los Angeles, California

Answer:
Hi Robin, You certainly can, but as a general rule it’s unnecessary and can cause inconsistent results.Because it has bacteria and fungi, you may lose some of your trays. It’s generally unnecessary to use castings in your microgreen growing because you’re only growing your microgreens to the first or second set of leaves, so they don’t really need the castings. Better to save that for your garden! 🙂
