So just how much of a difference can choosing the right plant make for you in a single year? Check it out in the video below!
P.S. And… discover an unexpected secret to making awesome pesto.
If you’ve ever lost vegetable plants to a pest or fought a voracious weed in the garden, then you’ve experienced firsthand how tenacious nature can be… Well, here’s the thing: Your vegetable and herb plants are just as resilient and persistent as all the pests, weeds, and diseases out there. It may not feel or seem that way at times, but they are!
Oftentimes, even a crop that appears decimated, can recover just fine. But what if you thought your whole crop was decimated when it really was okay? You could lose a perfectly good harvest! 🙁
Check out this video where one of my Harvest Club students thought she lost her whole crop and would have lost a ton of food before she discovered the truth.
Plus, holy kale!
Check out what I found on my microphone during the making of this video!
You’ve probably heard that vegetables and herbs thrive in an “ideal” temperature range of 50-85 F (10-30 C). Did you notice how narrow that IDEAL range is? How many places on Earth stay in that IDEAL range? The good news is that you don’t have to live in IDEAL conditions to grow lots of food. Phew, what a relief!
Great growing conditions helps your garden grow A LOT, but there’s always a way… Your climate really IS perfect for growing vegetables. These three students show you what’s possible…
Did you know that fresh salad from the garden tastes SWEETEST in the spring and in the fall?
Well, more accurately, your salad greens and root vegetables (like carrots) taste sweeter the COLDER it is outside when you harvest. That’s because the carrot is protecting itself from the cold. It wants to survive. So it stores extra sugars to protect its cells from forming ice crystals. And that sugar storage prevents those cells from rupturing during cold frosts. Isn’t that cool?! Your plants are so smart 😉 And lucky for us, that makes them TASTE BETTER, too!
So now’s the time to grow those salad greens and carrots. Wonder how much salad you can grow in the next 42 days… Check out an inspiring story from one of my students, Carolyn!
Do you secretly wish you had more TIME to grow your own vegetables and herbs? Or maybe you want more SPACE to grow your own food?
Check out two of my students who are are busting both those myths that you need a lot of time and space to enjoy homegrown food… It’s just not true!
Do you have a closet and a couple minutes each day? You could be growing a non-stop supply of greens 😉
There comes a time in every gardener’s life when you have zucchini growing out of your ears. If you’ve ever grown zucchini, you know: one day, they are just small green plants, the next thing you know, there are zucchini EVERYWHERE!
Check out my three favorite zucchini recipes. Kids love these recipes too. It’s a great way to have some family fun.
I mean, who doesn’t love a crunchy pickle?!
Stuck in a garden rut? Trying the same things over and over without seeing the results you’re looking for?
Maybe it’s time to try something new and find a new perspective.
Gardening is all about your mindset.
When you think you’re stuck… you really are stuck. So here’s one thing that will help you see new possibilities. It works every time.
Maybe you can relate… My home has three garden trowels and typically, NONE of them can be found. They get lost and we waste precious time hunting for our garden tools instead of gardening. Who’s great idea was it to make garden tools the same color as the Earth and the plants, anyway? They blend in so well, making them difficult to find!
I was fed up… a solution was long overdue. So, I shared four HACKS with my housemates and guess what? No more lost tools!
So a “HACK” is a new way of doing something that makes it easier, simpler, or faster and reduces frustration. Who knew we would need a hack to find our tools, but we did 😉
There are four types and you can use these strategies to solve just about any problem in your garden.
